Canon EF 100mm f/2.0 USM Lens - Many photographers appreciate the excellent film quality they call unique. Despite the fact that this lens is not an L-class and is very similar in many characteristics to the Canon EF 85 f / 1.8 USM, we recommend that you try at least once to replace the usual 85 with this lens when shooting a portrait to see for yourself the recommendations of the professionals.
The lens has a USM motor, which is responsible for quiet and fast autofocusing. And sports photography is another strong point of this lens, unlike the Canon EF 85 f / 1.8 USM - it does an excellent job of focusing in AI Servo mode. The contrast and color of the lens is significantly better than that of the 85. The only slight downside is chromatic aberration, which will be noticeable when shooting at f / 2.0. This is one of the best Canon lenses when it comes to distortions.
The high aperture of f / 2.0 allows you to shoot in low light conditions. In addition, the Canon EF 100 f / 2.0 USM is a very sharp lens. It is sharp already at f / 2.0 and only gets better when the aperture is closed - even the corners of the frame remain in the field of focus. Of course, at an aperture of about f / 11 - f / 16, lens sharpness drops - however, this is a common property of all lenses, caused by diffraction. At all other diaphragms, you will get a great sharp picture and wonderful, "film" bokeh.
