The adapter provides full electronic communication between the camera and the lens, including support for autofocus and electronic aperture control, optical stabilization, and distance information transmission. The adapter also reduces the crop factor of Micro 4/3 cameras from 2x to 1.28x, allowing the use of wide-angle optics. The optical scheme of the Metabones Speed Booster XL 0.64x adapter includes 6 elements, combined into 4 groups. The patented optical design concentrates the light flux intended for the 35 mm sensor on a smaller Micro 4/3 sensor, so the optical resolution not only does not decrease, but increases and the lens aperture increases by 1⅓ stop. Inside the adapter is a construction of six lens elements in four groups. They provide high light transmission as well as color fidelity.
