Sony FE 16-35mm f / 2.8 GM lens - Complements SONY's high-end G-series lens lineup and is supported by all current and future SONY E-mount cameras. The lens allows for the highest resolution and contrast. When shooting landscapes, architecture, interiors and other large-scale objects, clarity is maintained across the entire frame. The optical design of the lens uses, among other things, aspherical elements that minimize distortion, and low-dispersion glasses, which effectively control chromatic aberration. Specifically, this lens uses two Sony XA aspherical elements with a 0.01 micron surface finish. Distortion, which is commonly found in wide-angle zoom lenses, is tightly controlled and eliminated along with astigmatism and field curvature. Unwanted ring-shaped bokeh effects are effectively suppressed by the XA-type aspherical elements, which create a smooth background with beautiful defocusing. And Sony's original Nano AR coating suppresses unwanted reflections that can cause flare and ghosting when shooting in backlit or challenging lighting conditions. The lack of glare from light falling at different angles gives more freedom when framing and shooting scenes, especially at wide-angle focal lengths. This lens features a floating focus mechanism with two independently movable lens groups. This system helps reduce all types of aberration to a minimum and maintain sharpness and high resolution at all focal lengths. The two DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) systems are equipped with original Sony piezoelectric actuators that directly drive two groups of floating optics. The position of the groups is precisely aligned to ensure maximum focusing accuracy. The DDSSM mechanism operates almost silently, making the lens great for both stills and video. The lens is the smallest and lightest in its class at just 680g. A focus hold button, manual focus ring, AF / MF switch and other controls provide extra control when shooting. The focus hold button can be assigned other functions from the menu on the camera.
