The Nikkor 24-70mm f / 2.8 AF-S G ED is a professional standard zoom lens with fast aperture and silent ultrasonic motor for fast and quiet autofocusing, replacing the legendary Nikkor AF-S 28- 70 f / 2.8 D IF-ED. The new lens differs from its predecessor in lighter weight, improved optical design and faster focusing speed. In addition, the Nikkor AF-S 24-70 f / 2.8 G ED lens no longer has an aperture ring, which is traditional for Nikon lenses of the 90s of the XX century and 00s of the XXI century - now all lens control is carried out only from the camera. To reduce bifurcation and flare, a nanocrystalline coating (1 element) is used in the lens, to reduce dispersion (one of the special cases of which is chromatic aberration) - ED glass (3 at once, which is quite a lot even for top-end lenses). In addition, the lens features 3 anti-distortion die-cast aspherical elements. Silent Ultrasonic Motor (SWM) provides fast and quiet autofocusing.
